MY Devotional: Daily Biblical Encouragement & Prayer from Leading The Way

Leave Vengeance to God

Episode Summary

When believers are insulted, slandered, or treated unjustly, revenge can feel tempting—but perfect justice belongs to Christ alone. Dr. Michael Youssef explains how God’s promise to judge rightly frees us from bitterness and helps us respond to suffering with hope, prayer, and Gospel compassion.

Episode Notes

What should you do when you’ve been deeply wronged? In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reminds us that human vengeance can never deliver the perfect justice our hearts long for.

The believers in Thessalonica understood persecution and injustice, yet Paul encouraged them to trust the righteous Judge. Scripture never minimizes evil or pain—but it assures us that God sees every wrong, remains present with His people, and will ultimately set all things right.

When Christ returns, justice will be complete. Until then, believers are called to resist bitterness, trust God’s judgment, encourage one another, and even turn painful circumstances into opportunities to share the Gospel.

Prayer: Lord, help me to trust in Your perfect justice and to forgive, remembering the grace I have received. Thank You for Your perfect sacrifice that has redeemed me from the pit as You bore my punishment on the cross. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

“Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord” (Romans 12:19).
