MY Devotional: Daily Biblical Encouragement & Prayer from Leading The Way

Deliver Us from Evil

Episode Summary

Satan never wearies of tempting believers, often beginning with the subtle sin of pride. Dr. Michael Youssef reminds us that Jesus has already shattered the power of sin and death, and that victory comes as we humble ourselves and follow Christ closely.

Episode Notes

An elderly woman once known for always saying something good about others was asked what good she could possibly say about the devil. After a pause, she replied, “He is always on the job.” In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reminds believers that Satan never tires of tempting God’s people.

That is why Jesus taught His disciples to pray, “Deliver us from the evil one.” On the cross, Jesus did exactly that—shattering the power of sin and death. His resurrection stands as the evidence of His complete victory over Satan and every force of darkness.

Dr. Youssef warns that one of Satan’s greatest deceptions is convincing us that pride is not a serious problem. Pride was Satan’s own downfall, and it was also at the root of David’s great sin. David’s adultery and murder began with a proud posture—believing he was above God’s law, becoming lazy and self-serving, and leaving himself vulnerable to temptation.

If pride has drawn you away from God, do not stay there. Stop, turn back to the Lord, and follow Christ closely. Let every desire begin and end with Him, trusting that the Savior who conquered sin and death has power to deliver you from the evil one.

Pray with me.

Precious Lord, thank You for delivering me from evil on the cross. Thank You for shattering the power of sin and death. Please hold me close to You. Strengthen me and guide me away from laziness and self-service. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
